A quarantine in Brazil thinking about narrative. And the power that our own story-tell has at Earths life stream. February/March2018.

 -12 pages

I arrived in Brazil forty days ago. Was Chinese New Year, The start of an Eclipse season, a super moon... I was wondering about whats

Earths Astrology. How was the sky when Earth was born, and where this celestial body is in its chart's pathways.

A quarantine thinking about narrative. And the power that

our own story tell has at Earths life stream.

Most of this stories are cut-ups and fragments of notes and emails, now rearrange in this little text booklet.

Basic

Fragment 6 - email to a friend 7

There isn’t life without impact, the challenge is finding a balanced form of impact to live with.

To Walk is a basic form of motion and is mostly accessible to all people, there is something very ancient in traveling by foot, doing so is to reconnect with something basic, a different tempo, that once was so familiar to us.

To walk in nature is to give yourself new sensual connections to yours narratives, By walking at Cassino, I gave myself vastness, the very big has a different feeling within me. It became clearer that my identity will never be disassociated from what is beyond my body - the environment - the vastness that is behind the walls were we spend our days.

There, at the shore, was possible to see beyond 10 km, my presence was as small as a sand grain. In few days, we were more aware of the clouds, tides, wind, minerals, plants, animals and what they could mean. Potable water was a very scarce resource. Our bodies synchronized with that condition - eating not much, saving potable water, being aware of the weight (volume and utility of objects) we had to carry, location we chose to build our tent...

Our senses, specially smell and gustative pallet were enhanced each day - we could differentiate the air and the taste of water from the different places we find it.

We walked an average of 40 Km a day, and had around 12 hours to rest, cook, look at the sky and talk. The beach was noisy, but a very different kind of noise : was "uncivilized" white noise of the wind and the ocean, in parts of the day birds and other animals gave some contributions to that soundscape.

Walking tempo,  allows you to see details: the little creatures on the floor, the variety of shells, the shapes the wind draw on the send.

This is the longest beach in the world... and is supposed to be one of the 10 hardest tracks to follow in Brazil - But, it wasn’t the blisters, sun or dehydration that were hard to cope with.

The hardest was to see how much garbage, specially plastic, is around there - 100 km away from the nearest town, and still plastic - it made me think:

speed do not see residue

Once you drive fast with a busy mind is impossible to recognize what is left behind.

Besides dead sea turtles, sea lions and whale bones we found TVs, children toys, lamps, and whole variety of plastic bottles and containers ...

Successively the ocean trying to spit it out, and the send trying to absorb it...

By Walking I not just gain vastness but the awareness that

speed frames attention.

And slowing down its becoming not optional, but mandatory.

Earth Astrology

Sylvia

I heard Sylvia Earl saying:

The ocean is dying!

I think in consciousness reciprocity:

If the ocean is dying, what in me is dying?

The health of the ocean depends on what we notice about our narratives.

6 millions tons of aluminium per year are refine from Brazil rain forest soil. The exploration of Boxite is dangerous and its waste -red mud- is toxic and damages the environment and the communities that depend on the forest and rivers to live.

The most lucrative and safe part of producing aluminium is done in developed countries, like Germany.

After aluminium hydroxide and oxide is exported from developing countries.

Aluminum

I had an episode with my mother:

She tells me:

I read it isn't good to reuse Tetra Pack boxes - as milk or juice cardboard boxes - to develop crops before they are ready to be transfer to the ground. The aluminum in the interior of the box gets attached to the earth of the crop and is transplanted together  when the crop is placed in the ground.

What can lead to aluminum soil toxicity - generating plants with nutrients deficiency and endangering contamination of nearby watersheds.

I think:

If the nutrients in a plant depends also of the balance of other elements in the soil, therefore me - as an specie depend on the nutrients of the soil to grow healthy plants to my nutrition.

Human life isn't more important then Earth itself, theres no need to look after other planets - when we still have this ground to walk

Aluminum is the most abundant metal on Earths crust and is widely spread, the problem isn't its presence, but is its balance.

She continue:

it isn't just for my sake the soil needs to be taken care, is for the sake of the interdependence of Earths systems...

What you do with Earth you ultimately do to yourself and to everything you love.
